If you are a woman and you want to learn how to code, we have good news for you! We are holding a one-day workshop for beginners!
It will take place on 26th November 2016 in Nairobi, Kenya! The venue will be at Andela's Nairobi offices at 525 Kindaruma Road off Ngong' Road.
We believe that the IT industry will greatly benefit from bringing more women into technology. We want to give you an opportunity to learn how to program and become one of us - female programmers!
Our workshop is free of charge, and you don't need to have any technical knowledge. All you need is a passion for tech, a laptop, and a good amount of curiosity. If you know a little about HTML and CSS, that's okay too! :)
Don’t wait too long to apply for the workshop! Applications will be open from 22nd October 2016 until 19th November 2016!
As a workshop attendee you will:
We have space only for 50 people, so make sure to fill the form very carefully! In the meantime, follow us on Instagram and Twitter!
I don't live in Nairobi. Can I attend?
Of course! Every woman is welcome to apply to the workshop! Unfortunately we cannot guarantee financial assistance to help with your transport and accommodation. However, don't hesitate to let us know your situation and we'll do our best to help! :)
Should I bring my own laptop?
Yes. We have no hardware, so we expect you to bring your computer with you. It is also important to us that you will take home everything you’ll write and create during workshop.
Do I need to know anything about websites or programming?
No! Workshops are for beginners. You don’t need to know anything about programming. However, if you have a little bit of technical knowledge (i.e. you know what HTML or CSS are) you still can apply! This workshop is not for you if you have advanced programming skills, for example if you have been working as a programmer or if you have built websites or software applications before.
Do I need to have something installed on my laptop?
It would be helpful to have Django installed before the workshop, but we wouldn't expect you to install anything on your own. We will make sure that one of our coaches will help you out with this task during the Installation Party on the evening of 25th November 2016. (See the schedule for more information.)
These are the awesome people who'll be coaching at Django Girls Nairobi!
