If you are a woman and want to learn how to make websites, we have good news for you: we are holding a one-day workshop for beginners!
It will take place on SAT, APRIL 23, 2022 from 9 AM - 5 PM at the INNOVATION HUB in DAYTON, OH, USA.
We believe that Ohio will greatly benefit from bringing more women into technology. We want to give you an opportunity to learn how to program and become one of us – women programmers, whether professionally or for fun!
Workshops are free of charge, and if you cannot come to Dayton, you can participate online. Don't wait too long: you can apply for the workshop only until WED, APRIL 20!
If you are a woman, know English and have a laptop, you can apply for our event! You don't need to know any technical stuff – our workshop is for people who are new to programming.
As a workshop participant you will:
We have space only for 20 people, so make sure to fill out the form very carefully!
Do I need to know anything about websites or programming?
No! Workshops are for beginners. You don't need to know anything about it. However, if you have a little bit of technical knowledge (i.e. you know what HTML or CSS are) you still can apply!
Wait, is this for women or girls or what?
Despite its name, Django Girls is actually designed for adult(-ish) women. We're not setting a specific lower age limit, but young girls are likely to be frustrated unless they have exceptional attention span and skills.
Our definition of "women" is trans-inclusive, of course! We hope all women, and non-binary people as well, will consider participating.
April 23 is during Passover! And Ramadan!
Oops. Quite right. If you're not able to participate on April 23 for these or any other reason, please write dayton@djangogirls.org so that we can measure interest for a repeat of the workshop, and so that we can involve you in scheduling next time.
I'm not in your target audience but still want to learn Django...
Great! This specific workshop is aimed at adult women, but Django is for everyone. The main Django tutorial and Django Girls tutorial are freely available online, and the Dayton Dynamic Languages user group would love to provide you with online and in-person help and support as you learn. And let DDL know if you'd be interested in a later in-person workshop with a different audience.
I am not living in Ohio, can I attend?
We will support online attendees, though you'll get the best experience if you can come in person - and you don't want to miss seeing Dayton's Innovation Hub at the beautifully remodeled Arcade!
Should I bring my own laptop?
Yes. We have no hardware, so we expect you to bring your computer with you. Your laptop will need to have working WiFi.
Do I need to have something installed on my laptop?
Only a web browser! (Like Firefox, Chrome, Edge, or Safari).
Is food provided?
Yes! Details are forthcoming, but we will provide lunch.
We couldn't be here without the support from amazing people and organizations who donated money, knowledge and time to help us make this a reality. If you want to contribute and support our goal, please get it touch
