We want women to experience what it is like to code and work with technology. Our goal is to create a safe environment where women can explore technology.
We are trans-inclusive and welcome all women from all walks of life to enjoy bi-weekly Saturday morning workshops. Men are welcome to attend as well. We don't want men out of the IT industry, we just want more women in it.
If you are female and between the ages of 18-100 you can apply for a pass! You don’t need to know any technical stuff - workshops are for people who are new to programming.
We take our Code of Conduct very seriously and expect everyone in the workshop to abide to it. You can read our Code of Conduct here.
Our next workshop is planned for the 3rd June 2017.
As a workshop attendee you will:
We have limited space for attendees, so make sure to complete the form very carefully!
What is Django?
Django is a coding tool that allows you to build web sites using the Python programming language.
Do I need to know anything about websites or programming?
No! Workshops are for beginners. You don’t need to know anything about it. However, if you have a little bit of technical knowledge (i.e. you know what HTML or CSS are) you still can apply!
Should I bring my own laptop?
Yes. We have no hardware, so we expect you to bring your computer with you. It is also important for us that you will take home everything you’ll write and create during workshops.
Do I need to have something installed on my laptop?
It would be helpful to have Django installed before workshop. Take a stab at installing, but if you struggle, don't worry! We'll help you on the day. We will also be available on Friday 2nd June to help you install. Installation instructions are here.
Is food provided?
Yes. Snacks and lunch will be served during the workshop.
Is there going to be an exam or test?
No! Our aim is to introduce you to the world of programming and technology in an environment where you'll feel safe to learn and explore at your own pace.
Are Django Girls workshops only for females?
No! All genders can apply. We don't want to get men out of programming; we just want to bring more women in.
We couldn't be here without the support from amazing people and organizations who donated money, knowledge and time to help us make this a reality. If you want to contribute and support our goal, please get in touch: belfast@djangogirls.org
