We want women to experience what it is like to code and work with technology. Our goal is to create a safe environment where women can explore technology.
We are trans-inclusive and welcome all women from all walks of life to enjoy a day of learning. Men are welcome to attend as well. We don't want men out of the IT industry, we just want more women in it.
We take our Code of Conduct very seriously and expect everyone in the workshop to abide to it. You can read our Code of Conduct here
Workshops are free of charge! Applications are now open!
If you are female and have a laptop - you can apply for a pass! You don’t need to know any technical stuff - workshops are for people who are new to programming.

What is Django?
Django is a coding tool that allows you to build web sites using the Python programming language.
Do I need to know anything about websites or programming?
No! Workshops are for beginners. You don’t need to know anything about it. However, if you have a little bit of technical knowledge (i.e. you know what HTML or CSS are) you still can apply!
Should I bring my own laptop?
Yes. We have no hardware, so we expect you to bring your computer with you. It is also important for us that you will take home everything you’ll write and create during workshops.
Do I need to have something installed on my laptop?
It would be helpful to have Django installed before workshops, but wouldn't expect you to install anything on your own. You can come to Farset Labs on the 24th of June between 7pm and 9pm and our coaches will help you install the software. You can also come to any of our Saturday classes to get your software installed. If you cannot make the Friday evening or any of the Saturday classes, we will help you install the software on the day.
Is food provided?
Yes. A small breakfast, lunch and cupcakes will be served during the workshop.
Is there going to be an exam or test?
No! Our aim is to introduce you to the world of programming and technology in an environment where you'll feel safe to learn and explore at your own pace.
Are Django Girls workshops only for females?
No! All genders can apply. We don't want to get men out of programming; we just want to bring more women in.
During term times, we offer "Django Girls Tutorial" lessons. These lessons are an add-on to the Django Girls workshop. They are not compulsary and people can choose how many they would like to attend.
Our Django/Python/programming lessons take place between 9:15 and 11:45 at The Belfast Met in the Titanic Quarter.
Classes are free of charge!
Any level of experience will be accepted. We will either help you get started or help you take your Django learning further during these lessons. Our coaches will be available to assist you according to your own level.
We couldn't be here without the support from amazing people and organizations who donated money, knowledge and time to help us make this a reality. If you want to contribute and support our goal, please get in touch: belfast@djangogirls.org
We are an inclusive group of students, professionals, academics, freelancers, artists, hackers, and organizers that believe strongly in experimental learning and the Do-It-Yourself ethic.
