If you are a woman and you want to learn how to make websites, we have good news for you: we are holding a one-day workshop for beginners!
It will take place on the 6th of June in Amsterdam, in cooperation with an IT company specialized in web applications: Goldmund, Wyldebeast & Wunderliebe.
We believe that the IT industry will greatly benefit from bringing more women into technology. We want to give you an opportunity to learn how to program and become one of us - female programmers!
The workshop is free of charge to eligible participants. It is a great opportunity to begin to program in a friendly environment.
If you are a woman, you know English, are in or around Amsterdam and have a laptop - you can apply for a pass! You don’t need to know any technical stuff - the workshop is for people who are new to programming.
As a workshop attendee you will receive free training to learn to build websites. You'll be able to meet other women and make connections to continue your progression creating your ideas on the internet!
Space is limited, so make sure to fill in the form very carefully.
Don’t wait too long - you can apply for a pass only until the 10th of May!
We are trans-inclusive and encourage applications from all women.
Do I need to know anything about websites or programming?
No! The workshop is for beginners. You don’t need to know anything about it. However, if you have a little bit of technical knowledge (e.g. you know what HTML or CSS are) you can still apply!
I don't live in Amsterdam, can I attend?
Of course! While the workshop will take place in Amsterdam, applications are open to anyone who is able to come to Amsterdam on June 6th. The workshop will be in English, so if you have no troubles with speaking and understanding English - you should apply.
What is the format of the workshop? What if I have trouble keeping up?
You will work in a small group of just 3 attendees. A coach will be assigned to each group, and your coach will work closely with you throughout the day to help with any problems that you may have. You will work at your own pace, assisted by your coach, so you don't need to worry about keeping up with the entire workshop.
Do I need to have something installed on my laptop?
It would be helpful to have Django installed before the workshop, but we don't expect you to install anything on your own. We will make sure that one of our coaches will help you out with this task.
Am I too young/old to apply?
No! We have no upper or lower age limit for the workshop. We feel that women of any age can be highly motivated to learn and succeed in this field. All applications will be considered according to criteria similar to those described here.
Should I bring my own laptop?
Yes. We have no hardware, so we expect you to bring your computer with you. It is also important for us that you will be able to take home everything you’ll write and create during workshops.
We couldn't be here without the support from amazing people and organizations who donated money, knowledge and time to help us make this a reality.
